August 27, 2011: Tomato Run to Keremeos....642 K

Due to the terrible weather we have been having on the West Coast all of the crops are behind this year.  My local produce store which usually has a giant bin of field tomatoes from the Okanagan by now, doesn't.  It was going to be a gorgeous day on Saturday so we decided to ride to Keremeos...the Fruit Stand Capital of Canada ... in the Okanagan to pick up some tomatoes and orchard fruit.  We headed out at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning.  Breakfast in Hope at the Home Restaurant.  Highway 3, the Hope Princeton past the Hope Slide.  Just past Princeton is the beautiful Bromley Rock Provincial Park.

We arrived in Keremeos around 11:30 a.m.  We drove up and down the highway checking out the fruit stands and decided upon the Mariposa.

Shared a basket of late season bing cherries...soooo good!  Found a box and bungeed the fruit onto the back of the bike.   Ok, time to head home.

Was it worth it...of course...really just an excuse for a ride!  The tomatoes, bell peppers, nectarines, apricots and plums are all amazing!
