Book Description

'Bolton is a gripping storyteller with fine, haunted characters' Peter James

Just before dawn in the hills near the Scottish border, a man murders a young woman. At the same time, a hot-air balloon crashes out of the sky. There’s just one survivor.

She’s seen the killer’s face – but he’s also seen hers. And he won’t rest until he’s eliminated the only witness to his crime.

Alone, scared, trusting no one, she’s running to where she feels safe – but it could be the most dangerous place of all . .

'A real race-through read. Bolton's writing is pacy, and features a brilliant twist I wish I'd written.' Clare Mackintosh, bestselling author of I See You (in Shortlist)

'For once, the description "impossible to put down" is fully merited, for this is an absolute page-turner' Daily Mail

'With Dead Woman Walking, Sharon Bolton exceeds her own high standards of excellence. It grips from the start . . . The plot merges skilfully, with many splendid twists along the way' The Times

'Bolton is a gripping storyteller with fine, haunted characters' Peter James

'Crepuscular, uncanny mystery' Guardian

'Bolton establishes a forbidding atmosphere . . . A slippery, devious narrative in which things are not always what they seem' Crime Scene

About the Author

Sharon J Bolton was born and brought up in Lancashire, the eldest of three daughters. As a child, she dreamed of becoming an actress and a dancer, studying ballet, tap and jazz from a young age and reading drama at Loughborough University.

She spent her early career in marketing and PR before returning to full-time education to study for a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Warwick University, where she met her husband, Andrew. They moved to London and Sharon held a number of PR posts in the City. She left the City to work freelance, to start a family and to write.

She and Andrew now live in a village in the Chiltern Hills, not far from Oxford, with their son and the latest addition to the family: Lupe, the lop-eared lurcher. Her daily life revolves around the school run, walking the dog and those ever-looming publishing deadlines.

My Review

Dead Woman Walking by Sharon Bolton is a fabulous read. I have enjoyed every book of Bolton's that I have read. Dead Woman Walking is a stand-alone novel filled with nail biting suspense and great characters.

Dead Woman Walking is set in Northern England. Jessica is taking her sister Isabel, a nun, on a hot air balloon ride for her 40th birthday. While up in the balloon the sisters and the others aboard witness a crime...a man killing a woman. Worst yet the murderer realizes he has been spotted by those in the balloon. The balloon crashes and most aboard perish. When the police get to the crash scene, the find that the pilot is missing as well as two females.

The police are not the only ones looking for Jessica and the others. The murderer is as well. Dead Woman Walking follows Jessica's escape from the murderer and the police as she attempts to get to safety. Loved everything about this book including the ending.

Excellent book. Highly recommend.
