Book Description
It's Cait and Bud's wedding weekend and for the first time she feels like a bride—or at least, she's supposed to. But then the rain won't quit, the supposedly romantic Welsh castle feels creepy, and there's a dead body on the stairs.
What first appears to have been the untimely, unfortunate, and accidental death of their wedding choirmaster quickly reveals itself to have been a murder. And when a series of mysterious events occur around the castle, Cait, Bud, and Cait's sister Sian tackle the case of The Corpse with the Sapphire Eyes, attempting to solve the mystery before another sinister event can ruin their destination wedding.
The fifth Cait Morgan mystery will have you stumbling to catch up to Cait's brilliant mind, and keep you guessing until its shocking conclusion.
About the Author
Welsh Canadian mystery author Cathy Ace is the creator of The Cait Morgan Mysteries. Born, raised and educated in Wales, Cathy enjoyed a successful career in marketing and training across Europe for twenty years before migrating to Vancouver, Canada. There she taught on MBA and Undergraduate marketing programmes at various Universities for a decade. Her eclectic tastes in art, music, food and drink have been developed during her decades of extensive travels, which she continues, whenever possible. Now a full-time author, Cathy and her husband are keen gardeners who enjoy being helped out around their rural acreage by their chocolate Labradors.
My Review
I'm a big fan of the Cait Morgan Mystery series by author Cathy Ace. The Corpse With the Sapphire Eyes is the fifth book in the series.
I love reading books that are set in interesting places. The Corpse With the Sapphire eyes is set in Wales. I've never been to Wales but some of my ancestors originated there so I found this book very interesting. I would love to visit Wales some day. I need to get past London!
Another huge plus to The Corpse With the Sapphire Eyes is that Cathy Ace is a fabulous writer. She has a great way with words. It is wonderful to read an intelligent woman's writing.
I enjoy the main character Cait Morgan. I suspect she may have a bit in common with author Cathy Ace...Cait is getting married in this book...or is she? Lots of roadblocks pop up including a body. A body who is an old boyfriend of Cait's sister...and oh my do Cait and her sister have an interesting relationship. I can relate to interesting relationships with siblings! And a very interesting group of characters fill the castle. Who not to suspect?!
Great mystery! Extremely well written. Already looking forward to the next one in the Cait Morgan series.
Thanks for taking the time to read and review the book, and I am absolutely delighted that you enjoyed it so much. I should say that whilst Cait and I do have a lot in common (!!) her relationship with her sister differs from my relationship with my sister...thank goodness! However, my sister does knit and love opera, so there's a hint of her in this book, which is dedicated to her. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog post! Great book. Will be reading the Dotty Dowager before the release date.
DeleteI've only read one of the books in this series, The Corpse Wit The Platinum Hair. But. I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting, Patricia P - so pleased you enjoyed THE CORPSE WITH THE PLATINUM HAIR. Did you know that's the book (blowing my own trumpet here, sorry, very un-Canadian, I know) that's been shortlisted for the Bony Blithe Award for best Canadian light mystery? You have great taste. Dare I suggest you try more of my titles? ;-)
DeleteI have discovered writers from Canada in the last two years. Glad to meet you although I realize you came a long way to be a writer in Canada. I spent a few nights in Usk years ago. Judy
