Book Description

From the award-winning author of Little Pretty Things comes this gripping, unforgettable tale of a mother's desperate search for a lost boy.

Anna Winger can know people better than they know themselves with only a glance—at their handwriting. Hired out by companies wanting to land trustworthy employees and by the lovelorn hoping to find happiness, Anna likes to keep the real-life mess of other people at arm’s length and on paper. But when she is called to use her expertise on a note left behind at a murder scene in the small town she and her son have recently moved to, the crime gets under Anna’s skin and rips open her narrow life for all to see. To save her son—and herself—once and for all, Anna will face her every fear, her every mistake, and the past she thought she'd rewritten.

My Review

The Day I Died by Lori Rader-Day is the first book that I have read by this author.  I had heard good things about Pretty Little Things so I was eager to read The Day I Died.

Lori Rader-Day is a wonderful writer. Her words really brought The Day I Died to life. It was a very interesting story. Anna Winger is a handwriting expert. As an expert, she is called in by the police in the small town she has recently moved to, in order to help with analyzing a note left at the murder scene. A young woman has been murdered and the toddler she was caring for is missing. Everyone suspects the mother.

As the tale unfolds we quickly learn that Anna has many secrets of her own. Her new life intersects with her old with life changing results. This is a beautifully written tale filled with twists. It was hard to put down.

Highly recommend The Day I Died.
