Soukup gives us the tools to declutter all aspects of lives. This is not just a book, it is also a workbook. For example, in the section on our home, she asks us: What is the vision for my home? Then follows up with questions such as: What is my decorating style? How do I want my home to feel? How do I use my home? And Soukup provides room for us to answer these questions ourselves before we move on to the next section. This is extremely useful to helping us to visualize what we need to do to clean the clutter out of our lives.

About the Author

 Beth Gutcheon grew up in western Pennsylvania. She was educated at Harvard where she took an honors BA in English literature. My Review

Death at Breakfast is the first book in a new series by author Beth Gutcheon featuring retired New York City private school head Maggie Detweiler and her friend, society matron Hope Babbin. This is the first book that I have read by author Gutcheon.

In Death at Breakfast, we find Maggie and Hope settling into the Oquossoc Mountain Inn in Maine. They are going to be taking a week-long cooking class taught by a master chef. It is conveniently located near the home of Hope's son Buster, who is a deputy sheriff in the small town. Hope has not spent a lot of time with Buster as of late and is hoping to reconnect with him.

There are plenty of characters in Death at Breakfast. It was hard to narrow down who wanted guest Alexander Antippas dead the most. He was not a likeable person! 

Death at Breakfast is well written and an enjoyable mystery to read. I liked the Maine setting as well.

My Review

This book is fun! F-U-N Fun!

Clouds in my Coffee is the third book in The Country Club Murders series by author Julie Mulhern. This is the first book of Mulhern's that I have read.

Clouds in my Coffee is set in the 1970s in Kansas City. The characters are all part of the country club set (thus The Country Club Murders). Ellison Russell, who is a delightful character,  is surrounded by a fascinating eccentric cast of friends and relatives. She is a widow who lives with her daughter (I think her husband died in an earlier book). She has her aunt and her sister visiting. Her parents live close by. Then there is the handsome detective.  And it would seem that someone is trying to kill Ellison.

Clouds in my Coffee was a great read. It is well written. I loved being back in the 1970s (the era I grew up in). Clouds in my Coffee was a delightful pleasure to read. I didn't want to put it down because I was enjoying reading it so much. I enjoyed the mystery part of the book. It wasn't obvious and I kept changing my mind about who was out to kill who!

Highly recommend. I'm looking forward to reading the earlier books in the series. And the next one!

The NKJV, Apply the Word Study Bible: Live in His Steps is a very comprehensive bible. There are hundreds of fascinating articles to enlighten the student who is undertaking the study of the Bible. I found the book introductions to be very interesting and informative. Key Events are also listed with the book introduction. Whenever Jesus is speaking, the text is red. There is an excellent Concordance included as well as several full colour maps. I always enjoy maps in bibles. They help me put things in perspective more easily.

The NKJV, Apply the Word Study Bible: Live in His Steps is a great addition to my bible study collection. This is a great bible for students of all levels.

My Review

I have been a fan of Nancy Allen since her first book in the Ozark Mystery series...A Code of the Hills. She is an excellent writer who understands the court system first hand. And she is a realist. And James Patterson obviously noticed what a great author she is as well because she is his latest co-author. Already looking forward to that book.

The Wages of Sin is the third book in the Ozarks Mystery series. And it is another winner from Ms. Allen. It has some fabulous twists and turns at the end that left me breathless as I was racing toward the conclusion!

Elsie Arnold is a smart lawyer who does not take any crap from anyone. And author Allen has surrounded her with an interesting cast of characters including her boss Madeleine and boyfriend Detective Ashlock. All of the characters were fleshed out more in this latest book and they are all very multidimensional. I found that I was much more sympathetic to all of them. And my heart broke for the tiny victim Ivy...what a horrid life she had endured. And was continuing to endure.

The Ozarks drug and poverty issues are once again front and center in this latest book from Nancy Allen. She had a front seat view during her time as an Assistant Prosecutor and as the Assistant Missouri Attorney General. I feel like I am right there in the midst of the action.

The Wages of Sin is a great read and I highly recommend the Ozarks Mystery series by author Nancy Allen.

My Review

I love the cover! Beautiful!

The Corpse with the Garnet Face by author Cathy Ace is the seventh book in the Cait Morgan series. I have read several books in this series and I think each book is better than the last.

The Corpse with the Garnet Face is set in Amsterdam which is always a fascinating city. It is a story that focuses on art and the art of the Dutch masters particularly Vincent Van Gogh. I found this part of the book to be very fascinating. I also enjoyed the beginning of the book that is set in the Vancouver area. I love reading about the local references.

In the beginning of the novel, The Corpse with the Garnet Face, Bud, Cait's husband, discovers his mother had an older brother he knew nothing about. And that he is the sole heir. So Bud and Cait are off to Amsterdam and quickly discover that everything is not as it seems and they have quite a mystery on their hands.

I deduced pretty quickly what Bud's uncle Jonas and his cronies were probably up to but that did not lessen my enjoyment of the story at all. I found that Ace's story flowed  beautifully at a fairly brisk rate. It is very well written.

Highly recommend The Corpse with the Garnet Face. Great read.

About the Author

My Review

 Nothing Short of Dying is the first book in the Clyde Barr series by debut author Erik Storey.

This book has gotten an amazing amount of excellent reviews. Is it as good as a Jack Reacher book...some of them maybe. I think this series is off to a great start.

Nothing Short of Dying is a gritty, violence filled novel and is not for the feint of heart. It is fast paced and has your heart racing.

I loved the setting. I have been to every small town in Colorado that Storey set Nothing Short of Dying in. I always enjoy books set in places I have been.

Nothing Short of Dying is a great read for fans of William Kent Krueger, Lee Child and C.J. Box. I loved the ending.

Promising new series...give Nothing Short of Dying a shot.
