My Review

The  NKJV, Spirit-Filled Life Bible, Third Edition, Genuine Leather  Kingdom Equipping Through the Power of the Word is the most beautiful bible I have ever owned. The leather cover is so soft. It is an incredible treasure to hold.

The NKJV, Spirit-Filled Life Bible is already a proven resource. This new volume is an excellent addition to this family of bibles. The Thomas Nelson NKJV Comfort Print® typeface is easy to read with a 10 point font size. My husband who has trouble reading small print in other bibles was pleased to note how easy this bible is to read.  The feel of the pages is special and they are a bright white which also makes it easy to read the words.

This bible is in full colour. The maps are beautiful and easy to navigate. Tables and graphs are in colour so are much easier to read and understand.

I highly recommend the NKJV, Spirit-Filled Life Bible, Third Edition, Genuine Leather  Kingdom Equipping Through the Power of the Word. This will be a treasure for generations to come.

Book Description

Distillery owner Abigail Logan discovers that high spirits are no match for a cold-blooded killer as the Whisky Business Mystery series puts a fatal twist on stiff competition.

It’s been a year since globe-trotting photojournalist Abi Logan inherited Abbey Glen, a whisky distillery in the heart of the Scottish countryside. To her surprise, the village of Balfour already feels like home, and her new business partner, Grant MacEwan, continues to be too charming to resist. But Abi has a history of relationship disasters, so she struggles to avoid an ill-fated romance with Grant. Steering clear is hard enough on a day-to-day basis, but when the two head off to a whisky industry competition together, Abi panics. Five-star resort, four glorious days of nonstop whisky tasting, and a fatally attractive Scotsman—what could possibly go wrong?

The night before the award presentations, with foreign and domestic whisky makers at one anothers’ throats, two judges are found dead under mysterious circumstances. What started with three dream-come-true nominations for Abby Glen’s whisky soon turns into a nightmare for Abi. With a killer on the loose, she must call on her investigative skills to stop another murder—before she gets taken out of the running herself.

My Review

Deadly Dram  is the third book in the Whisky Business Mystery series  by Melinda Mullet. I have read all three books in the series. Be sure to read the first book...I liked it the best so far.

Deadly Dram is a good solid addition to the series. Abi Logan is settling into the whiskey distillery that she co-owns with the handsome Grant MacEwan. Personally I am not a whiskey fan but I enjoy reading about it in this series. That is what makes a cozy mystery great. The author really understands the world of Scotch whiskeys. Very believable.

One of the better cozy mysteries in my opinion. Good writing and interesting stories. Believable murders. Romantic tension. It's all there. And in Scotland.

If you are cozy fan, then Deadly Dram is for you.

Review: Inspired Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again By Rachel Held Evans

  • Paperback: 240 pages
  • Publisher: Thomas Nelson (June 12 2018)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0718022319
  • ISBN-13: 978-0718022310

Book Description

One Woman’s Journey Back to Loving the Bible

If the Bible isn’t a science book or an instruction manual, then what is it? What do people mean when they say the Bible is inspired? When Rachel Held Evans found herself asking these questions, she began a quest to better understand what the Bible is and how it is meant to be read. What she discovered changed her—and it will change you too.

Drawing on the best in recent scholarship and using her well-honed literary expertise, Evans examines some of our favorite Bible stories and possible interpretations, retelling them through memoir, original poetry, short stories, soliloquies, and even a short screenplay. Undaunted by the Bible’s most difficult passages, Evans wrestles through the process of doubting, imagining, and debating Scripture’s mysteries. The Bible, she discovers, is not a static work but is a living, breathing, captivating, and confounding book that is able to equip us to join God’s loving and redemptive work in the world.

About the Author

Rachel Held Evans is a New York Times best-selling author whose books include Faith Unraveled (2010), A Year of Biblical Womanhood (2012), and Searching for Sunday (2015). Hailing from Dayton, Tennessee—home of the famous Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925— she writes about faith, doubt and life in the Bible Belt.

Rachel has been featured in The Washington Post, The Guardian, Christianity Today, Slate, The Huffington Post, The CNN Belief Blog, and on NPR, The BBC, The Today Show, and The View. She keeps a busy schedule speaking at churches, conferences, and colleges and universities around the country.

My Review

I am a great admirer of Rachel Held Evans. I already knew I would love this book before I read it. I am very inspired by her words and her wisdom.

Inspired  Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again by Rachel Held Evans is a must read for all Christians. As a woman I found it very powerful and encouraging.

Many of us are less than impressed with the direction the churches are going in. Rachel takes us back to the bible and lets us fall in love with it again! For those of us questioning things right now, Rachel gives us a fresh perspective.

Great read! Highly recommend  Inspired  Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again By Rachel Held Evans.

This time Sheriff Joanna Brady may expect to see her maternity leave through to completion, but the world has other plans when a serial homicide case surfaces in her beloved Cochise County. Rather than staying home with her newborn and losing herself in the cold cases to be found in her father’s long unread diaries, Joanna instead finds herself overseeing a complex investigation involving multiple jurisdictions.

Filled with the beloved characters, small town charm, vivid history, intriguing mystery, and the scenic Arizona desert backdrop that have made the Joanna Brady series perennial bestsellers, this latest entry featuring the popular sheriff is sure to please J. A. Jance’s legion of fans.

About the Author

Judith Ann Jance is the top 10 New York Times bestselling author of the Joanna Brady series; the J. P. Beaumont series; three interrelated thrillers featuring the Walker family; and Edge of Evil, the first in a series featuring Ali Reynolds. My Review

Field of Bones is the 18th book in the Joanna Brady series. I have read every book in this series and have enjoyed them all. Field of Bones is a great addition to the series.

Joanna, is on maternity leave after the birth of her daughter. But everyone knows that she really isn't going to not work. They even have betting pools on it.

It is apparent that there is a serial killer depositing bodies in Cochise County. Nobody is missing though. And where in the huge county could the killer be? Could it be someone they know. The reader always knows what is going on. It is not our purpose to try to figure out who the murderer is but to enjoy the people. Yes the people. J.A. Jance writes characters that the reader wants to know. I have enjoyed following Joanna and her family's adventures.

Must read for fans of J.A. Jance. Read this whole series! You'll like it!

Highly recommend Field of Bones.
